As The Barking Lot continues work on its new 20,000 square foot “Barking Structure”, we are also working on reinventing the world of dog rescue. What separates us from the pack is our preparation model. We don’t believe in keeping our dogs trapped behind bars or glass windows, or isolated in a kennel. Our dogs are free to interact and roam throughout eight enclosed play yards, enabling them to develop better socialization skills and behavior. Potential adopters can observe and interact with the dogs in a more natural, approachable setting. Our method is working. In five years, we have placed over 1,200 dogs in good homes. Now, with the opening of “The Barking Structure”, our aim is to triple that number. But we need help! The funds from the Pepsi Refresh Project grant will go towards completing construction of our play yards. A key component in our approach to socializing our recruits and making them happier, and ultimately more adoptable, dogs!
