November 4, 2012: Event Proceeds to Benefit The Barking Lot
San Diego, CA (October 4, 2012) — Stacy Parmer, Founder of The Barking Lot, a San Diego all
breed, no kill dog rescue, announced today the Rock & Roll Over! Unleash The Sounds! concert
event for animal welfare. The first of its kind, the fundraiser event is set to take over the cul-de-sac
in front of the famed Mission Brewery in downtown San Diego, Saturday, November 3, 2012, 3:00 –
10:00 pm with proceeds benefitting The Barking Lot.
The unique fundraiser event combines many of San Diego’s finest attributes – dynamic local
musicians, outstanding craft beer, gourmet food trucks and a philanthropic spirit – for an invigorating
outdoor concert experience, featuring critically acclaimed artist Steve Poltz, along with Makepeace
Brothers, Paul Cannon Band, Christopher Dale and Upstream music. These artists will be rocking the
stage to raise funds for The Barking Lot throughout the afternoon and evening.
“We are thrilled to have this incredible community of local artists and businesses come together for us on this special evening,“ says Stacy Parmer, Founder of The Barking Lot. “The Human Society of the United States (HSUS) estimates that animal shelters care for 6-8 million dogs and cats every year in the United States, of whom approximately 3-4 million are euthanized. We believe that every dog should have a chance at a happy home and this unique event is an unbelievable opportunity to raise awareness and gain support throughout the community.”
Concertgoers will have the opportunity to nosh on “green” cuisine from one of San Diego’s finest
food trucks, Green Truck, while sipping the latest seasonal beers from local, award winning Mission
Brewery. All ticket proceeds, and a percentage of beer and food sales, go directly to support the dogs
at The Barking Lot.
Tickets are $35 per person and are available for purchase on https://www.xorbia.com/e/tbl/
rockandrollover. Email Nancy at [email protected] to learn more about sponsorship and
volunteer opportunities. Group discounts available for groups of eight or more ticket holders.
About The Barking Lot
The Barking Lot was founded by Stacy Parmer who took home her first foster pup, Patti Cake, and
then another, Raspberry, after receiving notice for ending its life at an animal shelter. The Barking
Lot rescues dogs slated for euthanasia at shelters throughout Southern California and Mexico. These
are the pups that go unnoticed at the pound due to medical issues, shy behavior, lack of training, or
breed bias. The Barking Lot provides love, care, and rehabilitation for these dogs at our facility, which
operates like a doggy daycare, in preparation for their permanent homes. Since our inception, we
have rescued over 2500 dogs. For more information visit www.thebarkinglot.net.
